THE 2013 LOCAL DISH CHALLENGE
Whether you're in one of our ten cities or elsewhere in the country, you can show your local pride by joining the Taste America Local Dish Challenge!
During September and October, the following restaurants will create a special Taste America Local Dish, and will be donating $1 from every dish sold to the JBF Taste America education drive.
Visit these restaurants from September 1 through October 31, order and photograph the Local Dish, post to Instagram with #JBFTasteamerica and the hashtag of your city, and you can help your city win a donation of $10,000 or 10% of the proceeds raised nationally, whichever is higher, for a local food charity in your city! Ends 11:59 p.m. ET on 10/31/13. Subject to Official Rules.
PARTICIPATING RESTAURANTS BY CITY:
- Visit a participating restaurant
- Order the Taste America Local Dish
- Take a photo of the dish for Instagram
- Post to Instagram with #jbftasteamerica and the hashtag of your city's
(Sample Post): "Just had this #jbftasteamerica dish from @lebernardin featuring delicious local produce
- Dine often and at all participating restaurants and help a local food charity in your city win a donation of $10,000 or 10% of the proceeds raised nationally, whichever is higher.
To participate visit one of the restaurants listed above between 12:01 a.m. ET on 9/1/13 and 11:59 p.m. on 10/31/13. Open to legal U.S. residents, 13+ at time of participation. Limit one (1) per person per day per Instagram account. Void where prohibited by law.
Taste America Local Dish
Through the in-restaurant menu promotion, a chef creates an entrée showcasing the best of their local food scene. This special menu item is offered during the months of September and October 2013 while promoting that $1 from every dish sold will be donated to the JBF Taste America Education Drive. All participating restaurants and chefs will be listed on jbftasteamerica.org after completing the participant form. Chefs will be asked to report on their progress at the end of September and again once the promotion concludes.
Visit a restaurant on the list above. When you order the Taste America Local dish featured on their menu, $1 of every dish sold will support the JBF Taste America Education Drive. Once received, post a photo of the dish to Instagram with #JBFTasteAmerica and the hashtag of your city. You can also share your post via Twitter for added exposure!

When the promotion concludes on October 31, 2013, the city with the most Instagram photo uploads will win a donation from JBF in the amount of $10,000 or 10% of the proceeds raised nationally, whichever is higher, to a local food charity.
If one of the 10 Taste America cities is the winner, the JBF pre-selected charity will receive the donation. If the winning city is outside of the ten, a local food charity which falls within the JBF parameters will be voted on by the participating chefs in that city.
We’ll be monitoring the social media participation each week and posting updates to this page, so be sure to check back. And remember, the city with the most Instagram postings at the conclusion of the challenge wins, so visit as many restaurants as possible, post away and help a local food organization in your city take the prize.
